Ambassador Dan Mulhall’s tweet from the play Rise

“I write it out in a verse —
MacDonagh and MacBride
And Connolly and Pearse
Now and in time to be,
Wherever green is worn,
Are changed, changed utterly:
A terrible beauty is born”
Easter 1916 WB Yeats

Know that we fools, now with the foolish dead,

Died not for flag, nor King, nor Emperor,—

But for a dream, born in a herdsman's shed,

And for the secret Scripture of the poor.

       T. M. Kettle. 1880–1916. Nationalist died at the Somme

Thursday July 21 th 7pm Nuns’ Chorus

The Nuns’ Chorus is a play written by Sally Mulready and performed by members of the  Irish Pensioners Choir and Theatre Group. Based in the Ireland of the 1950’s a group of Carmelite nuns from an enclosed order are sent beyond the convent walls for the first time in many years. Their ‘enforced holiday’ to Galway Bay sees them explore the paths which led them to convent life, and to a deepening understanding of the meaning of their sisterhood

Directed by Nora Mulready
