David Burke lifts the National League Cup

GAA Round-up

Both the football and hurling championships are coming to the boil with the quarter finals in football and semi-finals in hurling taking place over the next few weeks. In football the victory of Roscommon in Connacht was a surprise. More predictable was the success of Dublin, Kerry and Tyrone. In hurling Cork were successful in Munster and take on Waterford in the semi-final, National league leaders Galway have built on that form by winning the Leinster Final and take on Tipperary in the All-Ireland semi-final on Sunday August 6 th. Topping off a memorable year for the GAA has been the opening of the new stadium at Pairc Ui Chaoimh in Cork City. It seats 45000 and cost a fraction of the Spurs stadium at 80 million euros. The stadium is part of Ireland’s bid for the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
