About Feith an Cheoil

Feith an Cheoil is an Irish Traditional Youth Group based at the Haringey Irish Centre. Our Young Irish people aged between 7 and 21 yrs learn about their heritage by playing Irish traditional music, singing Gaelic songs and traditional Irish Dancing. We meet twice a week after school to learn our skills and socialise together.

These second and third generation Irish young people come from across the thirty-two London Boroughs such as Enfield, Hackney, Brent, Islington, Haringey and Newham. The aim of Feith an Cheoil is to provide these young people with skills and musicianship. Acquiring these skills in Music provides them with confidence and inspiration. They also gain a wider understanding of ethnicity enabling them to be proud of their culture and heritage and become active, productive citizens in their Community.

Feith an Cheoil performs in many different arenas entertaining at cultural, heritage centres, local schools, and community events. We take particular pride in working with other cultures learning from each other and learning to respect other cultures and ideologies. At community events, our young people are encouraged to give up their time to showcase to other young people what they might be able to achieve through music and arts.

Feith an Cheoil demonstrates the energy, fineness and vibrancy of Irish Culture, through our young people who are wonderful role models in the Community. Our performances reach wide audiences, this year we have performed at numerous events forging links with many different cultures and charities.
